In April 2006 we were the first cottages in
Cornwall to be assessed by the nationally recognised Green
Tourism Business Scheme.
Around 120 separate measures are looked at to
assess the environmental impact of our business and we were
really thrilled to be awarded a 'GOLD' level.

Cornwall Is a beautiful county, the mix of the
diverse coastal and rural landscapes makes it very special
and quite unique.
Here at Pollaughan we are aware of the fragile balance of
preserving the Idyllic environment that surrounds us locally
on the Roseland and also in the wider county of Cornwall,
whilst welcoming and embracing the many visitors who come
every year to share this very special place.
By us all being aware of this there are lots of small ways
that both you as our visitors, and ourselves in our communities,
can try and to minimise the 'footprint'we leave behind us.

danger to wildlife and habitats, and spoils the beautiful
scenery. |

Pollaughan Farm Cottages - CoaST Ambassador
of Best Practice
As part of our Building on Distinction Programme, CoaST (The
Cornwall Sustainable Tourism Project) will be providing intensive
ongoing assistance throughout Cornwall, to develop examples
of excellent sustainable practice.
CoaST is very excited to have Pollaughan Farm Cottages on
board as one of our Ambassadors of Best Practice.
At Pollaughan, sustainability is not just about fine tuning
business practice, it is about embracing a socially and environmentally
sensitive way of life. Valerie and Tim Penny have been striving
towards sustainability since the inception of their holiday
cottage business and already tackle a wide range of issues.
